Who we are
Ink Editorial is led by Tom Witcomb — an experienced book editor, literary agent, and ghost-writer with over a decade working across the publishing industry. I created Ink Editorial to give authors a more personal, affordable, and tailored alternative to large editing platforms like Reedsy.
I provide a full range of book editing services:
Manuscript assessments to give you clear, actionable feedback.
Developmental editing to strengthen structure, pacing, and character.
Line editing and copy editing to polish your prose and refine your voice.
Submission-package reviews including query letters and sample chapters.
Mentoring for authors who want ongoing support as they draft or revise.
Self-publishing guidance — from proofreading and typesetting to metadata, pricing, and reaching readers.
What sets Ink Editorial apart is my collaborative approach. Every service includes a follow-up call as standard, so you can clarify feedback, and we can brainstorm solutions, and plan your next steps. My philosophy is simple: editorial advice should empower you to write your best book, not overwhelm you with red ink.
With many years at a leading London literary agency, I know what makes a submission stand out to publishers and agents — and I bring that commercial awareness into every project. Whether you’re aiming for a traditional book deal or planning to self-publish, Ink Editorial will help you develop your writing, sharpen your storytelling, and move confidently toward your publishing goals.
Above all, I believe in honesty, respect, and constructive candour. I’ll always explain what isn’t working — and suggest clear ways forward. My goal isn’t just to improve your manuscript, but to support you as a writer for the long term.
Ink Editorial exists to help you write your best book — and to take one step closer to successful publication.
